By Amy Hayes

English labs have a blockier heads and American labs are long legged and tend to be leaner. The official breed standards are a great deal. The size must be medium to large and they should be long from the withers to the base. Their coats must short and dense but not wiry. The head is broad with slightly pronounced eyebrows. Eyes are kind and expressive. The body is muscular and has a powerful build. The jaws are strong and full of power. The perfect way to ensure that every individual who are into English labrador breeders to gain success, they should follow the tips and strategies recommended from professionals.

Obtain the dogs pedigree and papers. When the person has adopted the dog or purchase it, the breeder or rescue will give the registration papers for the pup. The papers would include the ancestors names and parents. The registration certificate is a way to verify that the pet is a purebred and perfect for breeding stock.

To become a breeder, make sure to verify the health of the Labradors. Avoid breeding them with hereditary health problems. If a certain pup is affected with a medical condition and has the chance to be passed on to their offspring, do not breed it. The medical issues will give more problems rather than their worth.

Mate the dogs between the tenth and fourteenth day of the heat cycle. Labradors get into the cycle at least twice a year. The cycle will last between two to three weeks. After the tenth day, let the dogs mate each other every other day for four days to six.

Consult an expert or a veterinarian to screen the dogs for hereditary medical conditions. Even though they are purebred, does not mean they are the best stocks. They may possess serious disorders that could be passed on their offspring. To verify, have them genetically screened. Many companies and organization conduct genetic screening.

Purchase a large whelping box. The large whelping box is where the female will give birth to their young and nurse them. The female mother must spend the first three weeks with her puppies after giving birth. After that, they can be transferred in to a similar enclosure or cages.

Never hide anything and talk to the vet if the female pup has complications during their first pregnancy. They will make assessments and evaluate the risk for future pregnancies which can include additional failed pregnancies and life threatening injuries. It will pose a danger even more if the dog is delivered prematurely, had a miscarriage before or suffered a prolong bleeding after the pregnancy.

Use old towels and sheets or even old clothes for bedding. This will give the cages and whelping boxes more comfort for the pups. Do not let them sleep on cold surfaces or it might give them health problems. Purchase lots of towels and sheets for their comfort.

Skip a heating season between pregnancies. The female must wait for at least another season before becoming pregnant once again. The dog must recover their body needs first. Never rush or it will put more stress on their bodies and may result to complications.
