Seeking A Cute Cavachon Puppy For Sale

By Michelle Ward

Dogs bring a lot of love to a home. They can be loyal companions for adults, as well as loving and gentle playmates for the kids, which also teaches children about taking responsibility for another being. However, prior to buying a Cavachon puppy for sale, there are certain things potential owners need to know.

It is definitely beneficial for interested pet owners to learn everything possible about the dog they desire prior to agreeing to the purchase. This is because out of thousands of breeds, they are all going to have unique combinations of health concerns, behavioral habits, characteristics, and quirks. This is certainly true about Cavachons.

The first thing anyone with their heart set on owning Cavachons should know is that these are not purebred dogs. They are what is considered as a "designer" breed, meaning that two other breeds - in this case, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Bichon Frise - are intentionally mated to produce offspring with specific characteristics. Because getting a successful blend is somewhat difficult, the puppies can be expensive and there may be a waiting list.

Another thing to keep in mind with designer dogs is that although there are basic guidelines on what one should expect as far as appearance and behaviors, there is no definitive authority on the breed. Most Cavachons are first generation and results may vary between puppies - even those born within the same litter. If two 1st gen Cavachons are mated, they might produce acceptable offspring, though the desired traits may become less prominent.

As the offspring of two parents in the category of Toy, these dogs are small, usually weighing no more than 18lbs and reaching of height of under 13" when fully grown. Although their coats are typically varied shades of brown and white, they can be other colors as well, but are usually silky, thick, and soft with either a slightly wavy texture or a big curls. A huge plus for people who suffer allergies is that this breed sheds very little and produces virtually no dander.

This type of dog is well-suited for small apartments as well as homes with spacious yards, although they were not designed to be exclusively outside pets. Before choosing to adopt this breed, individuals should be sure they can commit the time required to exercise their pet, as they are rather energetic. Playing games or taking daily walks will stimulate them both mentally and physically.

Anyone interested in being a new owner of Cavachons should be prepared to provide ample attention because forming solid bonds with their people and desiring constant companionship is something this breed is well known for. Being that they are very smart and pick up commands easily, their training in obedience and socialization should begin as early as possible. Behavioral control is more successful when this is done.

Before actually entering into a contract for purchase, it is most advisable to talk with the breeder and do a bit of research on the breed. It could be a huge benefit to know what to expect as far as the behavior, grooming, and health of one's new pup. Pets are certainly a pleasure to have around but this step should be taken responsibly.
