Most people have personal preferences when it comes to pets. Some love cats, some love dogs, and then there those who are attracted to more exotic animals like snakes, ferrets, and lizards. The majority of us will choose from the many varieties of dogs and cats available. Depending on your circumstances and lifestyle, you may decide that a large, active dog suites your needs. For others, a smaller, cuddlier pooch is what they look for. These folks should check out Cavachon pups.

The story goes that somehow a Bichon Frise and a Cavalier King Charles spaniel managed to get together, and that union produced what today we call the Cavachon. These dogs are becoming more and more popular. You will find characteristics and physical traits of both breeds combined in one winning animal. Cavachons are mostly big eyes, fur and energy, and that makes them hard to resist for many people.

As you may suppose, these are not big or even medium size dogs. They typically weigh somewhere between fifteen and twenty pounds at maturity. Because of their tiny stature, they can live very comfortably in a condo, apartment, or small flat.

All dogs need time outside and regular exercise. Whether you let them out to play and run in an enclosed yard or walk them on a leash is unimportant. One of the things they really enjoy is spending time with their owners. Cavachons tend to be lap dogs and love attention. Although they are social animals, these dogs are usually content to spend periods of time on their own when necessary.

Training a Cavachon is not a problem. They are intelligent and eager to please. Puppies may need gentle reminders not to chew or jump, but it will not take them long to get the hang of what you expect. Beyond the usual commands to sit, heel, and stay, you can teach these dogs to do simple tricks like rolling over and playing dead. As long as they are rewarded with plenty of treats and affectionate hugs, Cavachons will be happy to entertain you.

Cavachons have thick, curly fur that can grow several inches long. Because of this they require frequent grooming to keep them looking and feeling in top form. Many owners like to use the time spent washing, brushing, and combing their pets as a bonding opportunity. You may decide that a professional groomer suits you better though. It surprises some that with all that thick fur, a Cavachon barely sheds. This is a real boon for allergy suffering dog lovers.

Although these dogs are full of energy and love to be active, they are not big eaters. This nothing to be alarmed about. It seems to be a characteristic of the breed. As long as you dog is healthy and not losing weight, regular vet visits should be all that is needed to make certain the animal is fine.

There are so many reasons for considering a Cavachon puppy if you are thinking about adding a pet to your family. They are fun, lovable, good with children and adapt easily. Owners will tell you that they would not trade their dogs for anything in the world.
