Different Types Of Horse Hay Feeders

By Sandra Wilson

All living things have health concerns. We all need maintenance in order to keep our body in good condition. Lucky for us human beings, we could do it all ourselves and are even gifted with high intelligence that enables us to know different methods to keep ourselves conditioned. It goes the same for animals and we are the way for this to become possible. This is why horse hay feeders are made.

It is not an easy duty to keep animals in a good state of conditioned. There are many things that has to be learned about to assure that they are getting what is appropriate for them. Food choices play a big part with how their body develops and their behavior.

We often witness in the movies or even in reality the way owners feed their horses. Most of them just toss a pile of hays on the ground and let the poor creature devour it. Just because they are animals that know nothing about cleanliness and orderliness, does not necessarily mean we are not obliged to provide them clean meals.

When the forage starts gets mixed with the dirt on the ground and starts to moisten, there is a big chance that insects will make it their breeding ground which will leave your pet uncomfortable. He could get bitten by them and worst is they could get certain types of diseases or infection due to constant scratching of the affected area of their skin. If you know how to take care of yourself then you must also have the initiative to animals you chose to keep.

The first type of feeder that we will be discussing is the hay nets. From its name alone, we would get the idea that this is a feeder that is made by a net. This comes in different hole sizes. It was observed by experts that the ones with smaller holes are more likely to slow down the eating pace of the specie. As we know these creatures commonly suffer from ulcer and slowing down their consumption will leave them chewing less which will reduce saliva production.

It will also help them lessen their salivation which is one of the causes of ulcers. Whenever they chew with their mouth rapidly, it will cause them excessive salivation but with the use of net feeders, they will have no choice but to slow down.

Slow feeders are usually what the horsemen uses. It is believed that feeding their horses too much will cause them to go lazy and uninterested with running as their weight becomes heavier and heavier. This item functions the same as the first one mentioned but the only difference is their physical form.

Nevertheless, no matter how traditional forage is, it is still advisable to support them with appropriate vitamins especially for the adult horses. They are nothing different from us. Being deprived of the right and appropriate diet will hinder them from being in good condition.

Every animal that we take home to accompany us have no one else to rely on but us. By simply not letting them live in the wild is already depriving them to learn to hunt for their own food that is why we must be the one to provide it to them in the most responsible way.
